Sean O'Mahoney is a Manchester-based technologist, community organiser, and creative with active contributions across three core areas: technology, beer and cider advocacy, and creative media.
Sean co-founded INEVITABLE in 2019, an award-winning AI startup that makes AI accessible to businesses through practical implementation and support. Across each of his interests, his work is rooted in community engagement, knowledge sharing, and a continual drive to learn and uplift others.
Technology & University
Sean holds a First-Class Honours degree in Computer Science from Manchester Metropolitan University and has played a key role in growing Manchester's grassroots tech ecosystem. He has participated in over 400 networking events and 27 hackathons, with involvement spanning from mentor and organiser to judge and speaker.
In 2017 he developed CompiledMCR, an open-source tech events tool built to support the community. Through INEVITABLE, he has supported numerous innovation programmes, including the £3M Greater Manchester AI Foundry and the Exchange Programme by Enterprise City. While many of the projects he works on are covered under NDA, his public contributions to open-source, education, and startup support continue to impact developers across the UK and beyond.
Sean regularly speaks at universities and industry events on topics including AI implementation, careers in technology, and community building. Notable engagements include returning to his alma mater as a guest lecturer for MSc Data Science students (2023) and Industry and Community Engagement courses (2023), as well as delivering career guidance at UA92 (2023). Sean has held organizing and mentoring roles with community groups such as CodeWith, CodeUp Manchester, Manchester Web Meetup, Silicon Drinkabout Manchester, and hackathons including ManMetHacks, ECO Africa (#LetsDoIt), and MLH events.
Beer, Cider & Perry
Sean is deeply embedded in the UK's beer and cider scene, having worked at 30 beer festivals in a range of roles. He currently serves in several official CAMRA positions: North West Cider & Perry Coordinator, North West Young Members Coordinator, Central Manchester Branch Chair, and is a core member of multiple other national committees.
Beyond operations and outreach, Sean has also participated as a beer judge for festivals, lending his experience and palate to competitions and selection panels. He regularly speaks on cider and beer topics, including a guest-hosted episode of CAMRA's Pubs. Pints. People. podcast spotlighting Manchester as a beer city, and an interview on Oldham Community Radio discussing young member engagement strategies. He has appeared in the Manchester Evening News, Salford Now, Oldham Community Radio and CAMRA publications.
Sean has played a major part in engaging students in real ale appreciation through coordinated university outreach. In 2024, he organized multiple CAMRA events during welcome weeks across Greater Manchester universities, working with venues, CAMRA HQ, student societies, and regional branches to introduce hundreds of new students to real ale culture.
With over 5,200 beers checked in on Untappd, Sean's personal journey in beer continues to grow, reflecting both his commitment to the industry and his curiosity for flavour and craft.
Creativity
Sean maintains a diverse creative portfolio across event photography, videography, and creative production. His work includes shoots for breweries like Wander Beyond and Hideaway Brewing, tech events and community gatherings. He contributes to CAMRA's Pubs. Pints. People. podcast as a team member and guest host, and has explored creative technology through hackathons, including three VR Labs and the Storytellers United Hackathon, which fused narrative, interaction, and immersive experiences.
His creative journey began in 2011 with photography and Art as GCSE subjects, developing through his university years where he chaired the MMU Photography Society and led workshops on photography basics and post-production. His first podcast experience came from recording a Dungeons & Dragons campaign during university, which laid the groundwork for later audio work. While he hasn't pursued voice acting professionally, he continues to stay connected with digital creatives, actors, and other such communities.
